Faith in Action and the Sewickley Valley YMCA

The YMCA is one of our nation's largest social service agencies, and proudly relies upon volunteers to meet its mission of building a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Locally, the Sewickley Valley YMCA trusts our volunteers to bring beneficial change in the communities we serve. Our Faith in Action program is part of a nationwide organization of grassroots volunteer programs that provide good neighborly care to the elderly and others with long term health care needs.

As a Corporate Volunteer Partner, you would join with Faith in Action by providing an opportunity for your employees to volunteer on an occasional basis during normal work hours.

Volunteers will bring help and hope by providing transportation for senior adults to visit their doctors or receive treatments. No specialized equipment or skills are needed, just a caring heart. Volunteers simply pick up a care receiver at his/her home, take that person to an appointment or treatment, and bring him/her back home again. All appointments are scheduled days or weeks in advance, and volunteers will be given initial training to increase their understanding and confidence in working with older adults and people with disabilities. We also provide excess auto and liability insurance coverage for volunteers while on their trips.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a social enterprise partnership, enhancing your company's reputation and visibility in the community, while providing caring support for the elderly and others with long term health needs.
